I’ve just read in the paper about a potential hostile takeover of GKN. In the sideline of the article it said that GKN had built 800 Spitfires in one of it’s factorys during the war. Does anyone know which factory that this was please?

Do you know if any of those were used in surviving airframes
At least three – SL653, TE513 & TE517.

Joseph Sankey Ltd…a GKN company. Hadley Castle Works, Shropshire.
Flight testing at Cosford.
Fuselage construction numbers prefixed with an ‘SH’.
My understanding is that they built 474 fuselages.

I always though GKN were component/fixings manufacturers – certainly earlier on?
