I’m having a clear out of parts and have found 3 fuel gauges.
Has anyone got an idea as to what type of aircraft they were fitted to. I think the last one is possibly Barracuda ?

Hi there,
I’ve got 6A/3005 listed in AP1086 Sec 6A dated Sept 1966 as Kirby Cadet T3
Hope that helps

Another gauge for ID purposes. Described to me as ‘suitable for a Tiger Moth’ ?? Stores reference of 6A/3005. Post war

Also many were produced with calibrations in MPH or Knots, for instance as far as I can work out the Mk IXD ASI was produced in 4 versions Luminous MPH 6A/422, Flourescent MPH 6A/1291, Luminous Knots 6A/415, Flourescent Knots 6A/1292.

Whilst most/many were originally luminous it seems that later there were non-luminous, ie; flourescent versions of the same instruments produced with later reference numbers. However, beware, there are exceptions where supposedly flourescent instruments have proved to pose a radiation hazard, and vice versa. Obviously some aircraft were without suitable UV cockpit lighting.

Not radioactive?
I only know some gauges from 40~50’s used radioactive paint.

I’ve got 818FG listed for Hastings 1 in 2 copies of AP1086 Sec 6A, it equates to 6A/2057 and is a fluorescent gauge.
It could be that 849FG is a civil version (maybe for the Hermes) and the only difference is the needle??

Can anyone identify if the 2 gauges above were used in WWII or are they early post war jets gauges ?
I assume in the absence of a 6A stores ref , they must be post war ?

More Gauges
One is 818FG whilst the other is 849 FG
To me they both look the same except for the needles so whats the difference and which aircraft would they have been found in.

Flyingblind – your last gauge is Barracuda. I sent you an email last week but you never replied. Did it come through okay?

The one in the 3rd photo has an 818FG marking ?

A couple of those look dangerously brown 🙁
I recall the second one – it was my first acquisition when I was a nipper. Always though it was Spitffire (of course – is there anything else?!).
Anon.

349 F.G. is Barracuda.
Can you quote the other ***F.G. markings if there is no Stores Ref. visible?

Do you have the 6A/ Reference numbers inscribed on the guages ?
