They wouldn’t be hinting at delays to a flagship airliner project because of wiring issues now would they ?

Nah, I must have misread that bit, it’s a Boeing after all and nothing can go wrong…May as well get the excuses in early.:dev2: 😀 :diablo: 😀

I fail to understand why people presume there WILL be a delay with the 787 project.

All new technology and their respective projects can suffer setbacks, problems and hiccups. But these issues do not always directly translate into a delay.
Proper planning can usualy absorb a lot of the problems.

For example, Boeing stated that for the 787 they had 4 major contingency plans to combat key issues that may arise. By December 06, 3 of those plans were in operation, yet the schedule did not slip a single second. Surely a sign that proper planning does work.

Just because one manufacturer makes a monumental c**k-up on a project, it does not mean all new projects have to suffer delays. Setbacks, problems, hiccups etc are part and parcel of the business, but only poor planning results in either translating into a delay.
