Sir Ralph Richardson and Sir Laurence Olivier both served in the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm as pilots during WWII, and both apparently pranged a number of aeroplanes. Ralph was one of the first into the FAA after the war began.
Does anyone know what types they were flying? And what types they crashed, and the circumstances?

Thanks. I’d not seen either before. I am wondering if that photo of Sir Ralph was from when he made a film about the Fleet Air Arm called The Volunteer, released in 1944, as the chap next to him seems to be a cameraman. That film is watchable online on the BFI site but sadly will not play here in New Zealand.
