A familiar landmark at Malta’s airport, N720JR is no more…

I used to work on the 2 MAOF B720B’s EX Monarch B720B G-BCBA G-BCBB BCBB is now preserved Israel 4X-JYG and Air Malta 720B’s at Luton in the 80’s, when they were empty and we flew out to rescue some stranded passengers she was a Rocket Ship 🙂 Roared off Luton’s runway like a giant home sick angel..

A few years later I was looking through a Airliner Graveyard Book and found a photo of both MAOF (BCBA) and Air Malta Vertical stabilizer’s lying on the ground next to the remains of the fuse & wings in the USA 🙁

Shame the Excellent Malta Aviation Museum couldn’t save the Cockpit ?

there is a 720B Cockpit at Pima which is Air Malta 9H-AAK.

Sad to see it go, but I guess it was only a matter of time. I kept hoping that a minor operator might take it on one day but no such luck.

I feel quite lucky now to have seen N720JR last year. I even snapped a photo of it… sort of:

There are a couple of BAC 1-11s rotting away in the same area.

Long time since I’ve seen a 720 (Maof at Luton in the 1980s?): not many left I’d bet.
