Is the barn accessable at the old RAF Tempsford?

Lady Errol is a very pleasant lady who will take the time to show you around the little museum on the old technical site and then up around the farm area. I organised a trip a few years ago and I think we were asked for a donation of about £7-10 each for a group of a dozen or so (I can’t remember the exact figure). Well worth it.:)

I stand corrected svas_volunteer, thanks for putting me straight. Whilst i have always treated the site with utmost respect, I shall respect the land owners wishes too.

Sorry the barn is not on the footpath, Lady Errol is rightly getting annoyed with people straying from the path which follows the Peri track and walking around the barn, it’s suffering as it is and some people in the last couple of years haven’t been exactly respectful. Once she allows a couple of thousand homes to be built on the site I doubt she can stop people getting too close but at the moment it is on her land

Also go to Tempsford Village. There is a memorial opposite the church.

If you want to see the barn (Gibraltar Farm) it is readily accessible and on the public footpath which forms part of the “Skylark walk”, you don’t need to make contact to see just that. I live near there and walk there often and always go inside and pay my respects, it’s quite a moving and poignant location and experience. Well worth a visit. If you park in the layby on the Everton road it’s a 10 minute walk up from there on the public footpath.

Easiest way to get to it is off the Tempsford to Everton Road; there’s a layby on the LH side on the way to Everton and it’s a short walk from there

Technically yes you can speak to her Ladyship who owns the site and she can give you a tour for a fee which is used to support the displays in her small museum, or alternatively the barn is just off a public footpath so you can look from 80 yards away if you can’t make contact with her. It is a very interesting place to stand and try to imagine everything which went on.
