Luftwaffe Records

I would really like to verify some facts about a piece of action that involved the Luftwaffe. The story is well known (The sinking of a ship called the SS Thistlegorm) and on the face of it appears well documented.

But I have unearthed a bit of contemporary British intelligence that throws a little doubt on the known facts. I suspect it was faulty intelligence, but its worthy of following up.

I know date/time/unit/squadron/pilot name etc about the action. Does anyone know how I can obtain the Luftwaffe records based on that?
