Hello Snapper,
Do you know perhaps his service number as NCO, this could confirm if he is the Featherstone I’m looking for
Kind regards,
Serge

No idea if this is your man, here’s all I have in case it is of interest.:
Sergeant Featherstone joined 609 at Duxford on 1st April 1942 under S/Ldr Gilroy from No.57 Operational Training Unit. On the 24th the engine of his Spitfire failed in flight and he baled out near Kirton Lindsay. On 15th May 1942 he was posted to 616 Squadron at Kingscliffe.
Spitfire AD396 Lost in an accident 24/04/42, Sgt Featherstone baled out near Kirton-on-Lindsey. It was transferred from 609 Sqn to 152 Sqn on the same day but no accident card exists in the AHB
609 ORB
March 1942 Arrivals were Sgt Spallin (Canadian) and Sgt Featherstone.
1st April Sgt Featherstone posted to 609 Squadron from 57 OTU
13 april Sgt Featherstone arrives, posted from OTU
18 april duxford ‘B’ Flight has a fairly quiet day. 2 A/C do formation and dog-fighting, P/O Osborn and Sgt Featherstone escort the Jerry flying circus back from Snaith.
April 23. No flying owing to weather. P/O’s Rigler and Osborn, and Sgt’s Featherstone and Spallin, go to address the workers of the Hispano gun works near Grantham, and are given a hand.
April 24. one Spitfire pilot (Sgt Featherstone) has baled out near Kirton Lindsey… In the evening Sgt Innes flies the Maggie to Kirton to collect Sgt Featherstone, who, it is learnt, baled out in the course of an uncontrollable spin following his engine vibrating and more or less seizing (he landed successfully in a hedge). Leaving Kirton about 20.00 hours, the Maggie is later reported S. of Luton, and P/O Rigler is sent up in a Spitfire to intercept it. Eventually Sgt Featherstone recognises Northolt, and after much gesticulation gets the Maggie to turn round, and without cockpit lights for map or instrument reading, successfully lands in the dark at 21.56 hours (baling out was nothing to this trip, reports Sgt Featherstone).
April 27. F/Lt de Spirlet, F/O Atkinson, F/O Malengreau, and P/O’s van Lierde, Lallemand and Ortmans all become successfully initiated or re-initiated on the Typhoon, while P/O Evans and Sgt Featherstone perform preparatory Flights in AFDU’s Hurricane
may 1st F/Lt de Spirlet takes Sgt Featherstone to Matlaske, where the latter and Sgt Spallin (today promoted to F/Sgt) are attached to the air-firing course under W/Cdr Malan.
May 15th Sgt Featherstone posted to 616 Sqdn.
