Maybe asking for miracles here but any advice or info welcome.
A friend of mine has just told me his Dad was a navigator on Lancaster bombers during WW11.Unfortunately his Dad never really spoke about it but i will see if there are any snippets of info i can find.
His name was Sid [ i assume Sidney ] Greetham .I am sorry it is so basic but if i can get anymore information i will post it.
Thanks for any help 🙂

There is only one Sydney listed in AIR78 and I think (from memory) that he enlisted in 1951. I can go back and check if you like
Findmypast has one Sidney Greetham born 1920 (birth registered at Ecclesall Bierlow, Yorkshire, England) ….. if it is possible to establish when / where he died, this may help narrow things down

Thank you for all the above advice ,i have passed it on to him including the links to the MOD .This is what he has typed to me so far ” I have nothing else to go on apart from he was born in Sheffield about 1919. He never had any photos or anything, I don’t think he wanted any memory of it all.”
Sorry it’s very vague but thanks for any advice 🙂

There is a F/Sgt HWB Greetham 620817 commended for valuable service in the air 8th June 1944 in The London Gazette.
Not unknown for given names to bear no relation to that which someone is known by, but probably the wrong man.

As next-of-kin your friend will be able to approach the MOD for his father’s service record; I’m not sure exactly how to do it or what information the MOD will hold but it may include squadron postings and dates?
If anybody can post a quick guide of how to go about this I’d be very grateful; it is something I’ve been meaning to do for a friend also.
