I spent today visiting my girlfriend’s family in Fife. As the event was a family celebration lots of photograph albums appeared. While most of these were of various weddings and birthdays, some unusual photographs appeared courtesy of my partner’s uncle, who had grown up in Bermuda, to Scottish parents, and served in the Navy.
The first aviation ‘find’ was a photo of a Dragon Rapide on approach, pictured over a twisty country road. The photo was simply marked ‘airport’ and was developed by J Gibson of the Scilly Isles.
The bigger and odder find was an undated Christmas card of sorts, which I’ve uploaded pictures of:

The image above is reproduced on the right hand of an inner 2-page insert, with the message on the left (personal information redacted, but apparently it was addressed to the parents of the uncle mentioned above). The landscape looks like Sicily or Malta, but there isn’t a lot to go on! I’m wondering if it depicts a real event, or if it has been dressed up slightly. It makes an odd choice for a Seasonal greeting, but perhaps it was meant to rouse the spirits a bit ‘back home’?
The inner paper page was attached to a thicker outer textured-paper sleeve with blue silk, and the outside cover bore this crest:

The Latin reads Nemo me impune lacessit, which is the motto of the Order of the Thistle and the three Scottish regiments of the British Army.
I’ve also tried to clean up, correct the keystones and colour balance of some detailed areas of the image:

Any and all help will be welcome. Perhaps these cards are common items; I’m no historian or collector.

Excellent guesses all, Brian! I’ve found other websites reproducing larger chunks of the image, and it appears to show a stricken JU-52/3mg4e.

A guess based on the dangling men under parachutes, flat roof with raised chimmney and possibly three engined aircraft would be Germans over Crete.
sorry too late

The Internet is a wonderful place! With a bit of wildcard Google searching I found a section of the photo had been reproduced here:

The photo is captioned “German paratroops over Crete”.
Perhaps the photo I’ve uploaded is the prelude to this image:
