Buried Spitfire Found on Salisbury Plain…

…no, sorry, it’s a 1932 MG J2 roadster!

Still, one of only 2083 ever built, so still pretty rare.

Once I had two Spitfires in my life. If they dig up RAF Yatesbury they’ll find an engine for that J.2 and my Singer Le Mans.

Got my own Spitfire out front, had it nearly two months, wasn’t buried though. Damn Jerries dive bombed it the other week.

Battle of Britain? Battle of Bird****!

That Spitfire must have been going fast when it hit the back wall of the garage……

Well worth restoring: though just the chassis plate will remain from the original 😉

That reminds me of something from about 50yrs ago… I was talking to my sister on the phone and she told me her new boyfriend had a Spitfire…
WoW !!!!, where does he keep it ?, I excitedly enquired.
At home in his driveway ………Doh !

In the same vein, many years ago, I drove a new Mustang.
I got the personalized number plate “P-51”. Being an Air Force lieutenant at the time, I hoped someone would appreciate the humour.

One day I was stopped by a policeman. I thought it odd since I wasn’t speeding. I asked him if I had done anything wrong.
“No”, he replied, “I wanted to ask if you own a P-51”.

BFG failures in Germany ( MOT) used to get donated to the Gliding clubs for towing stuff back and forth on the airfield until they went to the bg scrap yard in the sky.

Language being a wonderful thing, my inner Scot initially misinterpreted the comment “archaeologists created a 3D model of the car to understand how it was left on the site”. I thought: no 3D model required, the troops were simply finished with it and left it there to rot. This is because ‘how’ and ‘why’ share a sort of common overlap in Scots, to the extent that ‘how?’ is a usable answer to a question such as ‘can I borrow your MG for the weekend?’.

Not much more to add, really. Will it be at Legends? Some sort of moaning about dataplate restorations and a joke about Myanmar…
