While not on a gate, there is a P-38 at the Major Richard Bong memorial in his hometown in northern Wisconsin.
It was outdoors for decades before being moved to a new purpose-built facility.
For years it was maintained by Air Force personnel from the interceptor unit at Duluth, Minnesota, after that closed it was looked after by Air National Guard staff frontage same location.

That must now be unique in being the only P-38 gate guard still on duty!
