Back in 2009 I published a photo here of DC-6 G-APSA taxying into RAF Changi on a Cunard Eagle military charter in January 1962.
It looked in 2009 that ‘Gappser’ had a bright future ahead, despite no longer being part of Air Atlantiques working fleet. I saw it again at Coventry a few years later, where it was ‘still running’ beautifully…but had doubts about it needing wing spar work.
The Cloudmaster website at http://thedc6.com/ however still promised it a future as a share holder operated ‘grand corporate transport’. Was this about 2015?
However despite that website still being visible I haven’t heard anymore about this.
So what has happened to the lovely lady…is she still at Coventry?

I really do hope that G-APSA will be made airworthy again eventually. Such a nice aircraft!
A few pics from 2007 at the Aviodrome Lelystad in 50’s KLM livery; representing PH-TGA in the 1953 London – Christchurch air race, for the movie Bride Flight.

Sorry to be a pedant Planemike, but you can’t begin a sentence with a full stop. Sorry couldn’t resist a bit of fun.

Pity, it must be a fairly unique dining experience in the UK
Sorry to be a pedant but either it is or isn’t. Similar to “you can’t be a little bit pregnant”, either you are or you aren’t !!!

It’s good fun – recommended!

G-SIXC unfortunately wasn’t open when we were there back in 2015 🙁 Pity, it must be a fairly unique dining experience in the UK.

Thank you. I could only see one four prop Douglas on the ground at Baginton when I looked at Google Earth and, foolishly, made the assumption that I did. Mea culpa!

Different aircraft. The diner is G-SIXC.

According to Google Earth she’s a restaurant – the DC6 Diner!

She’s still sat at Coventry. No idea what the current plans are, but its a shame to see her sat idle.

Reported by Planelogger as ‘stored’ and not to fly again (unless anyone knows better?).
