First intentional U-2 flight August 1, 1956. There was an unintentional flight a day or so earlier when a high speed taxi test lifted off for a few seconds, but it didn’t “count” and was not recorded as a flight.

I think you’ll find that U2 is a means to a political stage. I prefer the TR-1.

Don’t know about the U2, but it’ll be 82 years in December since the DC3 first flew: Quite incredible. If only Arthur Raymond and his design team could have seen that picture…

I was expecting to see one of those spiffy Turbo-Daks, and it isn’t even one of those! Nice article to read, and cool to see the U2 in the mix as well. What is the combined age of those two designs? :very_drunk:
