Gentlemen,
I am looking for any of these pieces. Or…any dimensions, especially the connector or the bases. I have the Tail Lamp (rounded end), so do not need those dimensions. The bullet ended lamp housing depth dimension would be nice. Otherwise it will have to be reversed engineered from these pictures. The fixing plate for the base is really needed for the dimensions on the wing.
Thanks, and Cheers

Ed, the lamp in post #10 is about 2500 miles away from me so I can’t access any more detail at this time. Glad to hear about the wing.

Maxim08,
I noticed that your nav lamp lens does not have the recessed portion for the locking tang. Also there is no Mark number. Do you have any of these numbers, and or the base?
It is looking more and more like the only reasonable method of making just a few of these will be 3D printing, and plastic casting for the lens.
So…if anyone has information for the base, please please please, be forth coming
Just finished rib stitching the last wing panel.

BH, has the thread on the brass shell been visually damaged effectively stripping the thread? If you and it are really stuck, you can forward it to me and I will happily repair and put in store for the pending Siskin project!

I have one of these that I’m trying to take apart but the glass rotates a little then won’t go any further, as though it’s locked.
Anyone know how to sort it out?

Materials
Just looking at the colour of Maxim’s light, the circular retaining band has more copper, probably a higher strength material. Brass was subject to ‘season cracking’ under stress, maybe they chose a more ductile copper rich material for the band. If you are going to the effort of making these lights as authentic reproductions, I would subscribe to build numbers. In aggregate we could probably afford some decent tooling to make decent pieces, including cast glass.
The threaded components require a rotating tool, like modern plastic injection molding of jar lids or soft drink caps. An interesting thing to make. I wonder if the thread is some Jurassic era once off.

All the best,

Ed, here’s a photo of an unpainted light. I know you will want to get the numbers stamped into the body accurately.
Save 2 lights for me!

Next time you come near the Bulldog, you may have all the play time sitting in the cockpit you wish. I shall even supply the towel to wipe the slop from the engine noises you make.
Thank you most profoundly.

6 2.23 inches is dimension of glass proud of brass case. All metal is brass except fixing bracket. Fixing bracket is bolted to underside of brass spun case with screws into a rectangular ‘lump’. Lump is brazed to brass case.
