Bought this dinner gong last week as I thought I recognised the design as being a Clerget.
It looks identical except the two spark plug holes are on opposite sides where as most I see are on the same side.
Any WW1 engine experts out there ?
It looks like copper but a magnet sticks to it.
The spiders webs are also historic.
I assume from a mess somewhere as it is well made!

It helps to save them for the future.
All the best with it

Thanks for your help BG52A.
Got to work out what to do with it.
Interesting that pistons end up as ashtrays and these cylinders end up as bells.

That’s ok, nice piece you got there.

Unknown I am afraid – purchased at auction house along with a propeller boss clock that I assume is from an FE2B as it is marked as made by British and Colonial (B&C 6630) and four blade with opposite twist on blades to normal.
BG52A thank you
The 9Z and also the 7Z appear to be candidates according to a nice chap on aerodrome.

What is its provenance and history? Or are those unknown?

Looks like a cylinder from a 110hp Clerget 9Z.

It’s not from an Oberusel? Just a thought.
