In the film `Tora Tora Tora` the Japanese attack force stumbles across a Boeing Stearman,
which makes a hasty retreat. I didn’t think much about this until reading an article (the book title escapes me) that stated that
the attack force stumbled across a training flight which was sumarilly despatched by the escorting Zero’s.
Does any one have any information on this indcident and would this loss have been the first US losses of WW2?

In the film the Stearman is supposed to be a civil aircraft, piloted by a female instructor.
In real life, Cornelia Fort was instructing in an Interstate Cadet, a Cub-type aircraft.
