Ju this is one of the 5. I remember cycling around curbridge and spotted 4 on a harvest wagon. I went and asked the farmer if he had anymore. He said I’ve got the remains of 5 Horsas that I bought at the end of the war. He said he’d burnt one wheel the week before and it had gone off like a flare….hardly surprising. You and I and Peter IIRC went to collect the wheels. I was still at school lol! Most were in a garage with a lovely old Vauxhall wyvern. I remember he said you can have the remains of the horsas, got so excited until he handed me a bucket! He’d burnt them and put the steel fittings in a bucket. We also recovered several undercarriage legs. Those were great days. I wish I’d got to keep one of those wheels. So yes, deffo Horsa.

Just dug it out of the shed, and put some air in it !

Oh, please don’t get excited by the writing, no, sadly there is no Oxfordshire Aircraft Collection to visit, way back in the 80’s we had a fair selection including Mosquito TJ118 but mostly we were an archaeological recovery group.

I had forgotten how good a condition the wheel was. We found 5 I think on a farm very close to Brize Norton, we have always assumed it is Horsa, as many were sold off from the area.
