I’ve just been reading through the letters page in the latest Aeroplane and there was a letter written by a lady from Ledbury who said a couple of hangars were built there and she worked on Typhoon wing production for Gloster’s in them. I hadn’t even heard about any aircraft production in the area before, so I was fascinated by the letter. Does anyone have any more details please.

Thanks, I wondered about the Putnam but don’t have a copy. I was about to suggest ARG but looked first myself and found this discussion along with a map ref:

The Putnam has wing assy at No.32 premises: Army Mechanisation Depot, and at No.38, new dispersal factory, Ledbury.

Thanks for the reply, I’ve got relatives that direction, but sadly all of the older ones of that era are now gone, will have to ask cousins if they know anything.

New to me too. Brief mention here:

Looking at Ledbury on GE, there are several industrial complexes around the outskirts which or may not be recent builds. Or they could have adapted and/or added to those hangars. A Streetview scan might identify something
