Hi all. I’m researching 1690 BDTF and know quite a bit about the loss of this aircraft, and sadly its pilot, in a mid-air collision with Lancaster LM130. (Unfortunately, it’s crew was also lost) What I don’t know, however, is anything about this Hurricane’s earlier use. Can anyone on here help please? Thanks in advance. Andrew

Thanks Tim. That, in itself is very useful – as one of the things I’m trying to ascertain is its colour scheme; and it is now reasonable to assume that it would have been delivered in a factory finish. So, if I can find its individual code letter (from the accident record, perhaps?) this will enable the guys, at the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre, whom I’m trying to help) to produce a reasonably accurate large scale model.I’ll encourage them to do a Martinet next!
Thanks again. Andrew

Hello Andrew,
The Air Britain register has PZ740 being allocated solely to 1690 BDTF prior to its loss. I only have one of the earlier registers so no dates I am afraid.
Kind regards,
Tim

Just bumping this up. I’ve contacted RAFM for movement cards & accident records. Does anyone have any other ideas please?
