Spitfire MH434 – film colour query

Flicking through volume 1 of the Book, I came across a photo of Spitfire MH434 in a paint scheme which she wore for perhaps only one season – it’s a 1941-style scheme, with the markings of 121 (Eagle) Squadron. See below:

The caption in the book states that this was for film work. Google only brings up a few extra images of this scheme, and not much else.

Anyone have any more info?

Some people might not be aware of this epic thread , with many, many different schemes which MH434 wore.

Hopefully, not too many of the photos have been taken down.

Funnily enough, that’s another film paint scheme I’ll be doing at some point!

Fictitious colour scheme for the ITV series A Perfect Hero, which starred Nigel Havers as a Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot who gets shot down and badly burnt. Loosely based on the life of Richard Hillary.

Here’s a photo I took at Alconbury Airshow in 1989/90, MH434 and in a different scheme too, D-CK, any ideas on the story behind this one too?

Here’s G-BOML’s paint scheme from the film, for those who haven’t seen it….

Thanks for that, Dave.

So, not only do I have an answer to that question, but now I also have two more models to add to my collection…!
