Anyone have an interest in working on 1940’s and 50’s vintage warbirds? We are working on setting up a US base of operations to process warbirds through for export to a museum in the UK, to store and maintain the stored airframes and to restore those needing restoration. Might also be needing 2 or 3 A&P’s to assist in maintaining and operating a C-130A as a museum asset. Transfer between the US and UK as dictated by projects may also be required. We are planning on operating both recip and turbine powered warbirds. This is intended to be an on-going project. Message me if you are interested.

I am chief engineer on the project and for the US side of things, A&P’s with either experience or an interest in warbirds are all we require. In house training will be part of the program. Once the aircraft are shipped to the UK, you may be required to work with the UK guys there to reassemble them. UK engineers will likely work alongside you in the US at times. We are still in discussions on several US locations, so relocation may be required. One location is in Louisiana and another in West Virginia. We anticipate releasing much more information in about 2 weeks. Until then, we are not releasing any information publicly.
Did one of you guys hit the lottery?

It’s entirely possible he has spent time actually…wait for it… doing aircraft rebuilds and flying instead of talking/reading or griping about how others do it.
He’s known in C130 circles, specifically with A models. But surely anyone who spent 5 minutes online could find where warbird mechanics lurk? He must have heard of the various museums & restoration groups at some point in the past 30 years? It’s not a case of him being an insider or not.
edit: He’s now deleted his post about deleting his earlier post & whining about people not following directions to msg him. I await further developments…

“or complained about the common people getting in the way at Legends”
Now I know your making it up!

I’m all for a bit of healthy scepticism, but it can go too far.
I’m not sure if not being familiar with social media or spend time on forums means he isn’t qualified, an “enthusiast”, or worse “not one of US”.
It’s entirely possible he has spent time actually…wait for it… doing aircraft rebuilds and flying instead of talking/reading or griping about how others do it.
Why I even know a award-winning restorer, one-time Mustang pilot, who has probably flow more types than many here could identify who has never subscribed to FlyPast, been on this forum, seen Piece of Cake, or complained about the common people getting in the way at Legends. 🙂 🙂 🙂
In short, when not running is successful business, he’s restoring or flying his many aircraft.
In other words, because the person in question doesn’t fit your idea of an “insider”, doesn’t mean he isn’t legitimate.
Keep an open mind until the facts are in.

I mentioned it on his FB post. He still hasn’t figured it out. Oddly enough for a guy who claims to be putting this plan together he doesn’t appear to be a member of any of the warbird groups or forums… So not only can’t he figure out how to view msgs, he also doesn’t know where to find people with the experience he wants… unless he’s purposely trying to avoid people in the industry… He’s not even a member of the Australian Warbird News group

He needs to Google for instructions to locate the “missing” messages. Just search “missing Facebook messages” for instructions.

A few people said they msg’d him, but he hasn’t seen the msgs. I think he’s only seeing FB msgs from people on his friends list.
No-one is hurt, just surprised at the responses and the seeming lack of the ability to understand a simple request…for those interested to message me for more information. I had people asking me to message them and others asking for details on an open Facebook post…I did not get a single message even though some have said they did message me. Maybe that is a Facebook issue as this is not the first time a message has never been received, or been received much too late. Had I got messages, I definitely would have responded.

Not doing a great job of getting folks on side is he? It’s all very non-specific and woolly: I imagine that those of us who were sceptical before are even more so now.
And for, “…only one person was able to read…”, I auto-correct to, “…only one person was daft enough to respond…”

The Aussie (Bob Maddern) has popped up again.
In case anyone is looking for my post regarding the need for A&P’s to work on warbirds, I have removed the post as it was obvious that only one person was able to read and comprehend my post. As for the comments regarding export of warbirds, our aim is the preserve the unusual ones no matter what it takes. Comments were made regarding exporting from the US, if this is so offensive to some people, why does the US import so many warbirds and no-one is offended? It matters less where they are, as long as they are preserved. I did also state that warbirds will be brought into the US, but it seems the ability to read continued to be a problem for most who responded in some way.
He also mentioned being in Oz later in the year “to inspect a warbird or two we are interested in”.. which leads me to think this mysterious outfit doesn’t actually have any airframes yet.

That sounds like the beginnings of a bizarre pyramid scheme. “Be your own boss! In 6th months time you could be flying your own Spitfire!!!”.

Must be the week for it, some bloke for Scotland (David Morton) popped up on the WIX fb group with claims of knowing how to own & operate warbirds for free, but apparently he doesn’t have a pot to **** in.
A way to obtain warbirds and operate them for free. Substantial commissions for successful leads brought to me to use the process.
Some kind of chancer whose FB page links to a GoFundme page to pay for his flying lessons & after two months can’t work out why no one has donated a penny…

A&P Mechanics on FB, it’s a closed group. Posted by some former RAAF C130 mech out of Louisiana….

Sounds like BS: there is a Walter Mitty type on WIX who claims to be a film producer. No idea what these folks get out of it though.
