In 1948 USN aircraft performed patrols around Guam in support of Operation Sandstone nuclear tests. Two PB-1W patrol craft were subsequently detached from Guam to Tsingtao, China in 1948. Does anyone know the color scheme of USN PB-1W aircraft operating out of Tsingtao, China, 1948-49? I know that most were overhauled in 1948-1950 and received a glossy blue scheme, but there seems to be limited info on whether they retained the bare metal scheme en route from Guam to China, or whether they received a Glossy Sea Blue color scheme. Sadly no pictures from Guam or Tsingtao exist. Thank you in advance for any information.
