Can anyone update me on where G-ACET based in Scotland? It is a recent restoration by Ron Souch for George Cormack and GINFO gives a Stirling address
I am planning a flight on Saturday to Perth and Stirling and wondered if it is in that area, would be neat to arrange some air to air with a local background.

Apologies for a slight highjacking of this thread but have a soft spot for the Rapide. Many years ago I was an aerial survey cameraman with Precise Surveys of Worcester flying in G-AHXW out of Staverton and just wondered whether the aircraft still existed? Having never been in an aircraft before my Rapide experience made me really appreciate travelling in commercial jets.
this a/c according to G-INFO was transferred to the USA on 16/3/1971…
regards,
jack…

This is great news! Look forward to hopefully seeing it in the skies in the near future. Having flown with SMT, Midland & Scottish Air Ferries and Highland Airways it’s nice to have her “home” again.

Or a direct swop as the Science museum just needs an example in my view..

Dragon G-ACIT should be at East Fortune and the Australian example returned home.

It reminds me that the Dragon of the Science museum would be better displayed In Scotland given the use by Highalnd Airways.
There is of course this beautiful machine at East Fortune.

The Dragon is at Cumbernauld Airport, Dan and I delivered her last September…What a flight 4hours forty, stopping at Barton for fuel…a great day in a great aircraft.

There is an article on Ron Souch – master restorer, in “Pilot” dated 1 Apr 2016 which mentions G-ACET.

I would not just turn up Wallace, I am sure that you know that these flights have to be well planned in advance. As it turns out we are not going to have the time . It reminds me that the Dragon of the Science museum would be better displayed In Scotland given the use by Highalnd Airways.

George’s strip is at his farm at Easter Poldar near Thornhill. The aircraft is most likely to be there as opposed to Cumbernauld.
I would urge caution in visiting as visitors are not welcome at any of those two locations.
The best thing would be to use the address from G-INFO.

Thanks agcat, missed that, could easily be a seasonal flyer.

Doubt it will be available for air-to-air at the weekend – G-INFO shows that it still lacks a CofA. But I suppose that is only red tape ……….

Cumbernauld……………(I think !!!)

Ok thanks, found out that he has an airstrip at his home and I will contact him via the micro light centre based there. It is the only airworthy Dragon that served with Highland Airways set up by Captain Fresson, his Moth GAAWO still flies.

Is it? I don’t know! Searching the web, it would seem to be at every air show that is happening in the summer!
