Help ID this prop hub please :)

Hi everyone

This is a 20+ year old mystery at the Museum. I recently rediscovered it tucked away in a cupboard.

They were apparently told at the time it was WW1 German, possibly heavy bomber such as a Gotha or Zeppelin, but the pictures I have found do not match the hole layout

The closest I can find to a match is either the Salmson AD9 engine or a Caudron R11 aircraft

Anyone able to give me a positive ID? PS Ignore the pole its mounted on of courser, thats how it arrived :D

Cheers

That looks like an early (WW1) hub to me, Ewan. Could well be off a rotary engine.

Interesting what the long shaft could have been off. Maybe from a propeller test cell/ balancing shop.

Anon.
