Fred Dunkerley and the Miles M-77 Sparrowjet

Can anyone tell me where and when this photo was taken ? It shows me sitting on the Miles M-77 Sparrowjet next to Fred Dunkerley. Yeadon or Baginton ? 1954, 1955 ?

The photo was taken by my father, Frank Murphy

Many thanks

If you can help me by narrowing down to the year when, you think, the photograph was taken, I might be able to give you a precise date by checking the control tower logs for Shoreham.

Shouldn’t the diamond shaped concrete squares give a serious clue for/against!

The Sparrowjet won the S.B.A.C. Challenge Cup Race at Yeadon on 21 May 1956. Wonder if the photograph was taken on that day? Terrain in the background certainly looks “right” for Yeadon.

Nearly forgot……..Welcome to the Forum, Spud……

I did think Old Sarum, but Yeadon could well be.
