I’d given up waiting for a spot of snow for my first visit to Newark this year so with the weather forecast showing scattered clouds and sunshine with a bit of a stiff breeze to blow the clouds along, I packed my Tiffen APEX Long Exposure Daylight Filter and a train trip north to Nottinghamshire. Well I got the scattered clouds and sunshine but the breeze wasn’t stiff enough and even with a 30 second exposure there was not much movement in the clouds to blur them that much. I think I’ll have to wait until the next Storm Doris is forecast for blurry clouds. In the order taken.
Who said the trains were overcrowded? A carriage all to my self, at least as far as Grantham.
‘Anorak On’. Sitting outside Peterborough in the sidings was one of the new Virgin Azuma trains which is doing proving runs along the East coast line before entering service in 2018. Very Japanese Bullet train looking.

Sorry that I didn’t get much of a chance for a longer chat – rather busy delivering two engaging education sessions on creative writing, leading up to World Book Day on Thursday. Pleased to report that once again ‘my’ RAF crews and their associates beat the fictional ‘superheroes’!
Did you manage to photograph the iridescent clouds (rainbow clouds)?
