Can anyone advise what publication would be used to identify Dowty Hydraulic jacks. I have a few of these jacks but don’t know what they are off or in fact how old they are. I was told sometime ago that these units were fitted to late large fighters such as the Typhoon or Tempest ??
The larger one in the picture has the following markings CF3740Y/?, S AD7584Y2/3 whilst the smaller one is marked 3652Y2/3 with a small circle containing the letters ACC 17?

Depending on its size; and the hydraulic connection fitments at the airframe support attachment end; the lower jack is very similar to a 27Q 68 Radiator Shutter Jack or possibly a 27Q 44 Wheel Fairing Door Jack. (Both Typhoon/Tempest.)

I’ll check with our Dowty bod… (Yes, we actually have one of those… an ex-service engineer)… as their identification numbers are very different to the RAF Sector numbers. If he identifies the lower one as what it appears to be; we could really use one of those for our old girl…

I have a copy of AP1803 (Hydraulics) which includes a numerical list of Dowty components in use in 1942. None of the numbers you quote appear on it.
The nearest match I can see to your numbers is a non-return valve D.3740, as used in the Lerwick, Don and Henley: this doesn’t sound like your big piece at all?
The AP also contains a later list of hydraulic components for most wartime types and neither the Tempest or Typhoon have any equipment with those numbers on.
Sorry!
