Afternoon Forum
Am seeking forum member owned Douglas Skyraider images for a pending book publication. Particularly interested in currently airworthy Skyraiders in past and current paint schemes.
Images must be owned by the forum member, although interesting, images brought in from the internet are not what I am after.
So if you have spied and snapped a few pictures of Skyraiders in the air in the last 20 years, and are interested in having your work published in a book, please post here and I’ll contact everyone individually. Obviously full credit will be given to those that provide the images.
Or alternatively, email me at office@thegliderworkshop.co.uk if you don’t wish to post here.
Also interested in any forum members photos of Skyraiders spotted in museums around the world, particularly Swedish target tug machines of which there are very few images floating about that I can use!
It is unfortunate that having contacted many museums in the hope they will supply images of their aircraft on display, few have returned any contact. Hopefully – some interesting images out there in forum land!

What happened to all the RN FAA ” Cod ” A/C on board the carriers, and 849 at Culdrose ??
I think the ex RN AEW.1 Skyraiders were either scrapped or went on to become target tugs with the Swedish airforce.
WV106, the ex Helston / Culdrose example is in external storage at the FAAM at Yeovilton. But the museum also has a second example, WT121, kept indoors!

Never seen photos of the near mid-air before. That was WAY too close for comfort.
Hard to judge the distance, but the Skyraider has an on-crowd vector at that point.

a few from me. The poor ones are photos of photos, but could scan if any wanted. Sky10 and Sky11 were scary because it was the same year we saw the loss of BBD. Albeit later. They show one of the skyraiders coming very close to taking out MH434 (which was on its approach).

This any use ?- o.k. it’s skulking behind the Avenger but it’s a reasonable air-to-air.

Not sure if these are fit to be included. It certainly wasn’t airworthy at the time, but it is one of the Swedish tugs, I think. Round the back at North Weald, sometime in spring 1987 if memory serves correctly – so outside your 20 year window too…
