I just received the February Classic & Sports Car and I saw something that might be of interest.
There is a story about UK “eccentric” (it’s said he was once named the UK’s #1 eccentric in a national contest…in a country that has more than its share of them, I’d expect that’s quite an honour) and inventor Lyndon Yorke.
A former Air Cadet and aerial navigator and pilot, he has a collection of odds (with an emphasis on “odd) and ends at his home in Buckinghamshire.
Mentioned and illustrated on page 139 are a pair of “Avro” gun turrets he has mounted on a shed. I have no idea how rare they might be, but a restoration group might contact him to check on current…or future…availability.
One looks like a Lancaster unit, the other is a taller, more domed affair.
It also mentions he’s planning a wicker bodied auto inspired by the shape of an ADF fairing.
Also illustrated is his Piper Colt with a wicker fuselage he’s turning into a propeller-driven auto. Somehow I don’t think the H&S brigade will be amused.

I think I have seen this place on a program before, seem to remember it is just the perspex dome parts of two turrets.
