Perhaps time for a few Museums to start approaching Norway

As they are planning to scrap the F16 fleet

Why should they; they were bought and paid for by the Norwegians. As were the Danish F-16’s, many of which have been in storage for years with little interest being shown. And weren’t many of them built by SABCA in Belgium anyway?

Pretty much as stated by ErrolC and based on experience gained over many years following up leads around Europe and beyond.

Also, mindful of potential ongoing changes re USAF loans that may already be in place.

Finally for tonight, whilst proud of my involvement with Safir, Draken and Viggen imports from Scandinavia my original F-16 post was typed with a big twinkle in my eye!! 😉

Why would they? Because the ‘usual’ disposal caveats have been in place for decades, and there is no reason to think that there is an exception in this case.
For instance, the ex-RNZAF Skyhawks in museums are still owned by the NZ Government because of this.

Please don’t tempt me!

Especially as the Safir was the first international acquisition that I secured for NAM!! 😮

That said I would imagine that the F16s would be covered by the usual USAF disposal caveats etc.; but never say never!! 😮

Strictly speaking we don’t really need any Norwegian F-16’s ! There is probably a place for a USAF example in the AAM but thats about
It ! Too often in preservation there has been a clamour to grab airframes – the reality is that there are a limited number of people in presevation and we need to care for what we have already better.

As to.the U.S Governmnent – the responsibility for the loan aircraft
needs to be devolved to the U.S military in the U.K on the USAFM’S
behalf so the airframes that are beginning to suffer can be returned
. It would also enable airframes to be moved within the preservation movement to where they are more appropriate.

Time to write to President Trump to knock some sense into DoD regarding disposals to foreign museums?

And they plan to close Bodo Air Base.
That would be some great place to display some U-2.
