My wife was watching one of her programmes on tv and there was a scene where a crowd of onlookers had gathered in the street and were watching a dog fight between a Hurricane and a Bf109. When the Messerschmitt was shot down the crowd erupted into cheers and applause which bought the question “did this really happen, did people gather in the streets to watch a dog fight and cheer when the Germans were shot down?”
