Steve Hall 8 October 1940 – 6 January 2017

I know that there will be a good many forum visitors who will have known Steve Hall (some of them will have known him well) formerly of the Wealden Aviation group and, amongst other things, one of the originators of the concept of a museum at Tangmere.

Steve was particularly into Luftwaffe history (and WW2 aviation history, generally) and was a prodigious collector of photographs and accounts from Luftwaffe veterans, his material very often finding its way into a multitude of books on military aviation history. He was co-author, with the late Lionel Quinlan, of a photographic history of Luftwaffe unit KG55 and had been co-authoring, with me, a book for Pen & Sword on Luftwaffe night fighters.

He was a great character and will be missed and remembered fondly. He had been a close personal friend since I was 17 – a period spanning some 45 years.

Sad news indeed,
I reflected on his enthusiasm for aircraft and will remember him for his cheery manor, firm hand shake and he Always had time to chat.

RIP Steve

Sad to hear, spoke to Steve quite a bit at events and on the phone chatting often. I remember his little geriatric dog he used to look after a lovely guy.
