The Islander fleet is generally used for inter island hops and non urgent patient-hospital transfers. Loganair for many years held the Scotiish Air Ambulance contract, for essential/urgent medical transfers. This was recently awarded to Gama Aviation and their bright yellow helo/fixed wing fleet.
As these services aren’t exactly bookable on ‘ba.com’ British Airways asked that the Islanders be removed from their livery as they were non representative of their services. Cynics have suggested BA just didn’t like the idea of ‘piddly’ little planes painted up in their ‘magnificent’ livery… 😀
Here are two shots I took of G-BOMG in BA and revised Loganair livery. Sadly this aircraft crashed into the sea near Mull of Kintyre, whilst attempting to uplift a young lad to hospital, with the loss of both pilot and onboard paramedic.
