Merry Christmas,

An ‘aerial’ view.

Nothing too special abut the ‘flatting’ of the finish. The shot was just low res, high gloss, black and distorted.
Here a crop from a fine image by Andreas Zeitler.

Watched a 1942 Air Ministry film recently “Streamline Colour” about RAF paint techniques and ensuring a smooth paint finish to reduce drag seemed to be ‘standard’ practice. Maybe the IAF just followed the instruction book?… 😀

Great pic…Thanks Mark12. The wings appear to be comprehensively “filled over” with no rivet lines, bulges or panel joins ??….it’s almost as if they were made of fibreglass (or something similar) in appearance. Is/was this standard practice in the IAF ?

A great picture. What’s the cloud of grey vapour just outboard of the RH side of the engine?
Anon.
My first thoughts were this was an insect strike on the camera mounted to the radio mast.
My second thought was that this was possibly the work of an Air Force censor.
My third thought, having just received further images, was that this might be a quick obliteration of the camera plane/helicopter prior to proper image manipulation.
What struck me most was how well that camouflage works on the F-16 at that height and distance.

Great to see. Even better if some that have been retrieved from Israel still carried its markings…..
