We are, at present, reconstructing the very corroded Accumulator crate (P/No: C.111712) for the Tiffie, which sits just aft of the firewall, below the pilot’s foot boards.

The question is; what are the codes, dimensions, and appearance of the accumulators themselves?
We have not been able to establish any useful info on these; and, as they are now probably unobtainable…
(like a lot of the larger electrical components)…
we may well have to dummy them up.
Any info would be gratefully appreciated.

I’m wondering if their the same type as those used in the Horsa. We need to make up a dummy one for that as well. 12v 40Ah Type D (5J-2284) seems to be pretty common.
I have pictures but sadly no dimensions yet.

Thanks for the info. The 1B also uses the same Type B accumulators.
What we are looking for are the dimensions and an illustration/photo of an actual accumulator, as we will probably have to construct dummies, as the Museum management are a tad twitchy about having the slightest hint of acid anywhere near a public exhibit!
