This is my second post in a week. I can’t believe I’ve had that much down time!
I acquired this Type 25 Radio Receiver unit a couple of months back as an interesting slow time restoration project. I need to do a fair bit of research to understand what I’m dealing with. Is it even possible to get something like this into a working state?
Baby steps first. I’m missing some parts from this and need some help with ref numbers to try and locate the missing items.
Firstly there are no crystals. It looks like four are required of the 10X variety? These seem to be findable but what frequency should they be, as there seem to be numerous variations available?
I’m also missing the base cover/plate. Does anyone have a ref number for that?
There’s a hole where something should be (see first image – on the left). Does anyone know what’s missing from here and what the ref number for that is?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Might be worthwhile joining VMARS if you are not already a member

OK, you can download A.P.1186 from here – http://www.tuberadio.com/robinson/Manuals/
I think volume 1 is the part containing the TR1196.

What you have there is the receiver module from the TR1196 transmitter/receiver.
Finding the rest of the unit, in particular the chassis frame which the modules fit on, won’t be easy.
So you’re probably going to have to resort to getting the Rx working as a stand-alone item.
Fortunately there were a number of articles published ‘back in the day’ on how to do this, although they do involve modification to make it do anything useful.
The manual for the TR1196 is a chapter of A.P.1186, which can be downloaded off the web, I’ll try to find a link.
