Vickers Wellington Mk2 Port Tail plane tip

For those of you who may have seen this – I took the risk and it arrived at lunchtime.

After washing it and 30 mins with wire wool we found the part number 4061813 cc4 and a couple of inspectors stamps MELC.

Checking the plans show that this is the port tailplane tip – just between the tip and the geodesic. The Black underside and green upper paint are original and the red line was the demarcation between solid structure and geodesic.

I have asked where it was found to see if we can find the ident of the aircraft it was from in Oxon.
