We are now able to confirm that it is our intention to run Shackleton MRIII, WR982 on Sunday the 16th of October between 13:00 and 14:00 hours. Subject to serviceability we will be running all four Griffons.
This is purely coincidence with 963’s run on Saturday, so please all, don’t think this is a competition with Coventry or done in that manner, it is not!! We have close ties with Rich and crew, and wish them the very best of luck on Saturday with their own runs. Our runs are for a specific event, requested of us by a club on this date, but the doors will be open as usual at the museum, for anyone that wants to come along on the day and see.
This will be the first engine run since 2008 and marks the beginning of the re-awakening of WR982. We hope to make this a regular feature of the museums events calendar with multiple runs per annum. This being the first run for some time, no extra charge will be made for entry to the museum. In the future to enable us to fund the fuel cost we will be asking for a increased charge to witness engine runs.
So please come along on Sunday and see 982 awaken. There is a lot of work ahead of us in terms of aesthetics, so please bear with us. Sunday is all about testing her engines out..
Heck, go and see 962 Saturday, and come see us for 982 Sunday. Rare thing to see a Mk2 and a Mk3 Ph3 run on the same weekend!!
