A friend recently gave me several copies of “Flight” magazine from 1947 and there is some fascinating stuff for sale in the “Aircraft for sale” columns. How about a Puss Moth for £695 (you could add two noughts to that for a good one these days) and new Proctor 5s for £2900. However the one that interested me was the Cygnet for £1175 finished in Oxford and Cambridge blue. Only 4 survived the war and perhaps “scotavia” may remember ”GBA which Russell Whyham had at Squires Gate which never got converted. ‘GBN at East Fortune is the only survivor in this country and I think always had a polished finish. I thought the Cygnet was ahead of it’s time but I wonder if “avions ancien” has any ideas on which was the the blue one?

It is pretty much where it has been since 1975 – concreted into the ground with traffic either side!

I wonder if there’s anyone on this forum with a sufficient command of the Spanish language to send a message to the Aero Club Colón enquiring as to the current state of and the perceived future for this Cygnet.

There are a couple of head-on shots and another partial view of the Argentinian example on the Aero Club’s Facebook photos page – https://www.facebook.com/pg/Aeroclubcolonba/photos/?ref=page_internal It could certainly do with some tlc 🙁

Poor ole thing. Funnily enough I took a photo of the EF Cygnet only a couple of weeks ago.

The photo linked in post #15 has disappeared but I’ve found another at http://www.aviationcorner.net/show_photo_en.asp?id=295100. Yes, the Cygnet is in a poor state but apparently not beyond redemption (although it has to be conceded that the photograph was taken over six years ago).
