Any news update would be welcomed, qantas founders museum were still awaiting the engineering report when I last emailed them. Saw there was a news report on it in flypast this month. Thanks for keeping this thread live.

I’m not sure it’s definitely saved. It will depend on the engineering assessment.

So is it definitely on the saved list? If so what else is in danger of going in the country.

The Australian group is the Qantas History outfit which rescued the 707 (720?) from Southend.. They are also rescuing a Super Connie from Indonesia(?). That one’s going back to Oz by land and sea.

Any news regarding the Australian group, was a deal successful? Any further news welcomed still looks the best C-54 for sale anywhere. Still don’t want to see this one go to the pot.

I was speaking to the aircraft’s owner quite recently. He said that there is an Australian group in negotiations to buy it to return it to flight.

That’s very good news lets hope it comes off and we get to see it a bit in the air before it makes the trip to Oz?

No, the last remaining aircraft is still very much complete. The axe has not swung near it…

Yes I thought the second aircraft was now being opened up as per photos

Photos on this forum, on another thread within the past two weeks, show the aircraft apparently with large side section cut out on one side.

One chopped up and gone, one still remains.

It was inspected last week by a party looking into the practicalities of a return to airworthiness.
