Canberra bits to I.d

Guys I’d appreciate some help in identifying a few Canberra B.2 bits. This star wheel looks familiar but I can’t think where it was situated?

Ed Lyon has been kind enough to send me some photos including this shot of WJ649 upside down and with u/c lowered after its tragic accident. The red arrow shows the direction of travel as it came in on finals to land.

Incidentally Ed was a young ATC cadet at Bassingbourn on summer camp and was actually flying in a Chipmunk behind ‘649 on that fateful day, and saw the whole thing happen in front of him. Needless to say he was extremely shocked. Two days later he got to fly in the station flight Anson VL306 (from where the photo was taken) AND won the award of a short flight in Canberra B.2 WJ714. That must of been some summer camp!

Indeed Baz, but I was going by the fact that the piece I found has no black centre or handle

Hi Rob
I had speculated that it might be a locking tool for the Bombsight – if you look at the bombsight pic in post 44 – there is a similar looking item on the base of the bombsight.

Nice one Baz. I’m still trying to get my head around the item in post #15.?!

All the items are with the farmer at the moment to show to his elderly father. Once returned I’ll be adding some to the display board. Another young Canberra crew remembered!

Any part numbers Rob ?

My old Canberra mate has suggested that it may be from the canopy demister (electric fan unit ?) or an air drier (silica gel filled tube) which would fit in with the part numbering system.
Sorry forgot to add this a few months ago.
