I came across this photo of a Polish ATA pilot and then took notice of the Spitfire behind, it looks like a early mark, external windscreen with no rear view mirror, early type flat sided canopy, no signs of any crow bar attachment clips on the cockpit door.
The mystery is what is the equipment which is in place of the normal gunsight, whats the purpose of the 4 shiny new bolts just below the port side windscreen and the “strange” equipment on the stbd cockpit side?
Hoping someone will solve my mystery .
