Is This an aviation related bit of metal?

This is probably a very long shot, but I found this at the site of the former Hatfield Airfield whilst out walking.
Not very big as you can see, but it’s thick and quite heavy, it looks vaguely like a rail type thing with the ledge-like bits.

It could be just old tat, but seeing as it was on a known airfield I thought it might possibly be something of interest.
