Hangar 11/Peter Teischman's P-51D in 1977 in California

Looking through my photo files I came across these two photos of the P-51D that later became Peter Teischman’s P-51D “Jumpin Jacques.” I took these photos at Van Nuys Airport, California in 1977 when Gary Whiteman still owned it. It looked pretty good then but looks even better now. I understand the aircraft is being repainted as “Tall in the Saddle.” The coordinates of the photo location are 34.218505, -118.497201 if you want to see the location in Google Earth.

Absolutely lush, some of these old civilian schemes are great. I used to hate them back in the day, how things change…
