Any Ideas? with i.d.of these 2 handles, engine starter/ B17 under carriage/ Me109??

Hi
Can anyone help to identify these 2 Handles the smaller one i am told is from a B17 emergency under carriage lever as per closing scene of the film Memphis bell. also from searching the net there appears to be a similar handle used with the bull turret of the same type of aircraft. then to throw a spanner into the works there is also a similar handle used to start a Bf 109 engine, as over the weekend i visited Shoreham Museum and see one displayed that looked very similar to the large one bottom of first photo.

There are some very faint numbers on the larger one they read Casting CA 500 there appears to be more but unreadable.

On the smaller handle the numbers again are faint and read Assy No? E-5143 Casting No CA 11500 again there are more but regrettably unreadable..

Many thanks as always with any help towards identifying both Handles/levers..

Don’t know about German but could be the same as an undercarriage from an he111 having a Dunlop tire. Maybe pre war international trade?

Though wouldn’t a German one have the German word for “casting” rather than the English word, even if it was otherwise identical?

Hi Hawker, fairly generic handle. I’ve even found one on a 1940 beaufighter crash site! Engine starter handle. Also found the same handle on a p38 too.

Thank you for your reply Redhillwings,
I did wonder that so i guess it will be difficult to narrow it down to a particular aircraft, although apparently the smaller one came from a B17 crash site (No history) and mentioned it was from the emergency undercarriage lever i guess this may be confirmed via the locating part of the Lever/handle as the 2 in the photos do differ in length and the locating pin is in a different position.

I don’t suppose anyone would have a photo of a Me 109 engine starter handle as the one i witnessed at the Shoreham Museum did look very similar, but i couldn’t take any photos (of which i 100 per cent respect) to confirm how similar..
