I’ve never read of F-89 dumping in Iceland in my several books on the type, but in the 50s-60s, the USAF did dispose of old gear in place, not bothering to bring them back to the US.

They did have a F-102 on static there, but it was later scrapped due to corrosion.

Are any F-89s still extant up there? I recall that some were buried (genuinely buried this time!) and disinterred a few years later at Keflavik.

EDIT: I did find this link which mentions 1977 regarding dumped F-89s, but not much more. Nice site however!
