Seeing both PA474 and NX611 both in fine fettle and will be a long standing memorial within the UK of this raid.
Hats off to all of those that took part in this raid, all on the ground and in the air and lets not forget the loss of life over there too.

Well said! I hope that these events are always remembered through the generations, I just watched “The Dambusters” & no doubt tomorrow night I’ll watch “Memphis Belle” (the original version). Lest we forget.
Regards, Rich.

Its’ also the date when a certain USAAF bomber, whose name is known to many, completed her 25th and final combat Mission.
Although Hells Angels completed her 25th on 13th May, so being the 1st B.17 to complete 25, but did not go home till 20th Jan. 1944 after her 48th. The Memphis Belle got to 25 on 19th May, but was the 1st to return to the US, so becoming more famous.
Incidentally the crew that took her back to the US was a make up crew who had all completed their 25 missions… all above information from hells angels web site.
Only wish they all could have gone home with their crews… all remembered.
regards,
jack…
