Anson to Greece

Air Britain reports that an Avro Anson is heading for Greece, it is actually comprised from parts coming from two separate aircraft.

This appears to be a combination of ex-RCAF Anson is in fact AX246 and some of the mortal remains of G-AGPG wings and main spar

I don’t know for 100% sure but I think the Palis Foundation is the destination

Yes Paul, The centre section does need work, but not that much if it only going to be static, lower skins etc. It looks sound enough to be static.
I checked it out with Mike Eastman a couple of months ago. But it is missing an engine, otherwise complete.

To add, it was at Church Fenton when we looked at it

scotavia, they seem more active than you think, or the owner of the Anson is. A long story that would be better leaving off the forum.

I understand your comment about needing work but, having seen what I assume is the kit of parts leaving the UK, I’d say the centre section needs a massive amount of work.

An image of the Aggy Paggy centre section was recently seen in another thread – it was then Yorkshire if I recall corrdctly. I had the pleasure of crawling all over it at its previous location (Shropshire) and corrosion was widespread.

A great friend of mine has the port engine from Aggy Paggy under restoration.

Paul.

Strange to be heading there as the museum has closed pending the affairs of the owner being stabilsed.

It is the Palis Foundation Anson. It’s basically complete, the fuselage is just a frame. The center section is in need of work, otherwise it needs reassembling. Still a big job though.
