The National Museum of Flight at East Fortune is just starting a new project with some young people. The idea is to let them work on a Gipsy Queen 70 engine from a Dove, giving them the opportunity to work with experienced engineers and at the very least learn some basic hand-tool skills which will assist them with any future engineering career.
The museum has an existing Gipsy Queen 70 engine, but it is incomplete and if anyone has any spares going spare, do please let me now and I’ll pass on details to my colleague who is running the project. I don’t know exactly what is missing, but I know it includes cylinders and piston rings, but any suitable spares will be very welcome.
Also being sought are Gipsy Queen 70 manuals. There is an original Operation, Maintenance and Overhaul Handbook Volume 2, but they are missing Volume 1. They are also particularly keen to try and get a copy of the de Havilland Gipsy Queen Series 30 & 70 Spare Parts List. If anyone has, or knows, of the existence of copies of these manuals and would be willing to help, do please let me know. Original copies would be wonderful but even photocopies or scans would be incredibly helpful. As with all museum projects, there’s not a lot of money, but postage can certainly be covered and possibly purchase costs if a donation isn’t possible.
Thanks for reading and any offers of spare parts, manuals or any other help would be very welcome indeed.

Might be worth contacting Vintech in Bedfordshire-they overhaul DH engines and might be able to help
